Bronze Standing Sculpture - John Tullett
Bronze standing sculpture H 220mm W 130mm
John Tullett is a foundryman based in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Working mostly with bronze, but sometimes with other materials, John finds the technical aspects of the process fascinating. Pieces are handmade with wax, after which a ceramic shell is applied. The wax is melted out, the bronze poured and the shell is discarded. The work is then hand finished and coloured.
“ I like the limitations imposed by making simple shapes. Knowledge gained from one work flows into the next. I find the history of bronze casting fascinating and much of the development of my work is informed by it.”
John’s pieces are a combination of control and accident, of rough casting and detailed finishing.
He has work in collections in New Zealand, Canada, Great Britain ,Australia and The Netherlands.
