Brown & Co lighting and design store is a celebration of contemporary craftsmanship. Hand-picked by Katie Brown because of their uniqueness, rich aesthetic and high quality, Brown & Co showcases some of New Zealand’s most exceptional artwork.

Featuring blown glass, lighting, furniture, sculpture, printmaking, painting, jewellery and glass engraving, the store works as a platform to showcase multiple mediums and it has been Katie's personal joy to help people select a statement piece for themselves or someone special.

Curated by Katie Brown

Glass artist Katie Brown has a fantastic international following for her detail to design when creating beautiful and functional glass lighting and objects. Inspired by the natural world, her work captures fluid moments of lines and patterns and has become very collectable.

With global success and enjoying a fabulous lifestyle in Whanganui, Katie established Brown & Co to create a space that celebrates contemporary craftsmanship, and that becomes a destination store within Whanganui’s stunning art and culture scene.

Finding a home with heritage

Brown & Co is on the first floor of Ridgway Chambers in the picturesque Ridgway Street. This grand old building, dressed in unique and stylish artworks and glittery lighting, holds court on the corner of Whanganui’s ‘Old Town’ precinct, drawing in the curious and fulfilling Katie’s vision perfectly.

Having undergone a dramatic restoration, Ridgway Chambers was named the supreme winner at the inaugural Whanganui Regional Heritage Awards in 2020. Whanganui-based architects The Drawing Room and Design received the Heritage Award in the 2021 Western Architecture Awards for how they reimagined the use of its space.
